About Us

What is FarFromFree?

Founded in 2017, our mission is to provide support, resources, and guidance to those who are currently in the foster care system, have aged out of it, or have been forced out of home at a young age. We’ve spent a great amount of time compiling both national and local resources that can help.

Too often, young people age out of the foster care system and are faced with a future with no support and no safety net. Our name is intended to shed light on how these youth are still far from free; they have no experience, no career, no money, and no housing. That doesn’t sound very much like freedom, does it? All youth deserve to be heard, feel supported, and develop necessary life skills for a better future.

You are not alone.

LEARN MORE: HEALTHCARE FOR HOMELESS AND STRUGGLING YOUTH

Healthcare is important for everyone, especially for our young, homeless Americans. Every day we have at least 35,000 young adults under 25 living on the streets on their own. It is important that they get necessary healthcare to prevent chronic illnesses from becoming more advanced.
